Oulert Hill
Rebels under the leadership of Fr. John Murphy occupied Oulert Hill on 27th May. The militia assembled at the base of the hill and, contrary to orders, they advanced up the hill without waiting for artillery support. The rebels set up an ambush and killed many of them. Only 4 members of the militia escaped.
Tulach a' tSolais is the name of the above monument. It was built in 1999 by Roland Tallon and Michael Warren. It is situated on top of Oulert Hill beside the original monument which is pictured above with the cross on top.
